This article explains how the FLOWBIO Sensor works.
Sweat Capture
- The Sensor is worn on an endurance athlete's upper arm or chest strap.
- As you begin exercising, you will begin producing sweat. This sweat will start to fill the microfluidic channel through the Sweat Inlet on the FLOWBIO Sensor.
- Our proprietary sensors then measure this sweat every 8 seconds, recording this data to the internal memory of the device throughout the session.
Analysis of Sweat
- Once a session has been completed and saved, the data must be analysed to provide you with your valuable Sweat Rate and Sodium Concentration Data.
- We first pair the data from the sensor with the third-party fitness tracker, to ensure we're only monitoring data from when you're exercising.
- We then process this data. We use data from the Sensors in the FLOWBIO Sensor, and combine this with specific parameters from the .fit file provided by your fitness tracker.
- We require data from a third-party fitness tracker to get the precision that FLOWBIO has worked hard for over the past 4+ years. Without this, you will not get data from the FLOWBIO Sensor.
Viewing Data in the FLOWBIO App
- Once your data has been uploaded to the cloud, you can view it in the FLOWBIO App.
- Here, you will be able to see information on your sweat rate and sodium concentration.
- We also have features which enable you to leverage past data to predict future requirements.
- You can download the FLOWBIO App from the IOS Store and Google Play Store
- If you'd like a demo of the FLOWBIO System, don't hesitate to contact support@flowbio.com.
